Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies-or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world...and the imprints that attach to their killers.Violet as never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer-and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer...and becoming his prey herself.
My thoughts:
First of all, I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally read The Body Finder! Second of all, it was one of the best books that I've read all year! And third, I'm quickly becoming Kimberly Derting's very won stalkerazzi! I cannot wait to get Desires of the Dead and November is just way too long for me to wait for The Pledge to be released!!! What ever will I do? On to the good part!
The Body Finder is so creepy, hunting and scary. It literally put me on edge and I was very jumpy while I was reading. What really creeped me out the most were the little snippets from the killers perspective. It really gave the reader a glimpse into what the killer was thinking and, even scarier, how he would choose his victims. After the first snippet which comes by chapter 2 or so, I was absolutely hooked!
I had such a hard time putting this book down! I wanted to turn the lights off, crawl in my bed and under the blankets and use a flashlight to read this book so that no one would bother me. I was just blown away by how intriguing the story was. It's mystery with supernatural and some romance thrown in to make it an amazing young adult novel! Kimberly Derting is proving herself as a writing force to be reckoned with.
