Review-Clockwork Angel

Title: Clockwork Angel
Published: 31 August 2010
Pages: 478
Rating: 3.5/5

Synopsis provided by Goodreads:

Magic is dangerous-but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks, and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to riding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called the Pandemonium club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into anther person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by-and torn between-two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a dark secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile mood keeps everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother or helping her new friends save the world....and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

My thoughts:

I was so excited when I first saw this book in the store because it was the cover that caught my eye. When I realized that it was a book related to the Mortal Instruments series, I was a little bit turned off because there was something about the look of them that I didn't like. But then I noticed that Clockwork Angel was stating that it was the prequel to the whole series and I really got excited. After waiting until I was finally finished with school, I put Clockwork Angel on my list at the library.

I was slightly let down by this book because I felt there was something lacking. I like the characters enough and the story line and the action but I wanted there to be something more and I just can't seem to put my finger on it. Maybe I was hoping that Will's past would be revealed at the end or something epic; discovering Will's past is the main reason that I will be reading the next book in the series. And I will probably pick up the Mortal Instruments series because I've heard amazing things about them.

Did you read it? What did you think?

Side note: This is my 100th post!!!! Also I am coming up on 200 followers and I was thinking of doing a giveaway? What would you like to win?

IT would be nice to win anything! Not really fussy! ;)
I haven't read either of them, but they look good and I actually have both of them. Brilliant review!

And thanks for you comment on my Spirit Bound review: I felt like my heart was breaking too! :(

Aw, see I loved this book and I didn't feel let down at all by it. But then again, I've read TMI and was super excited for this book and can't wait for A Clockwork Prince to come out, so I can get the rest of the story about Will, etc.
